Pelion is widely known as the "Mountain of the Centaurs," as Greek mythology closely links it with these legendary creatures. Among them, Chiron, the son of Cronus and the Oceanid Philyra, stands apart for his wisdom, justice, and compassion for humankind.
Within his cave, Chiron taught medicine, music, hunting, and the art of warfare to some of the greatest heroes of Greek mythology, including Achilles, Theseus, Jason, and Asclepius. Drawing upon the remarkable medicinal herbs of Pelion, he passed on his knowledge of healing illnesses and treating wounds, contributing to the mountain's enduring reputation as a land of healing plants and ancient wisdom.
This trail leads to the area of Milies, where the cave traditionally identified as Chiron's dwelling is located. It is a truly unique experience that combines the breathtaking natural beauty of Pelion with its rich mythological heritage.
For safety reasons, wearing long trousers and closed-toe shoes is mandatory.
